Obituary for Ruth Jensen (Lauritzen)
Ruth Jensen, 86, passed away peacefully at the Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, on Friday May 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Beloved wife of Frode (Fred) Asbjorn Jensen. Loving mother of children Vivi Jensen Goettler (Stephen) and Kim Asbjorn Jensen (Mary Anne).
Cherished grandmother to David Pusateri (Cheryl), Kirsten Pusateri (Conlan), Christian Jensen (Mariah) and Nathan Jensen (Sadie). Ruth is also survived by her great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, both in Canada and Denmark.
Predeceased by her parents Thorvald and Signe Lauritzen, sisters Gerda Hansen and Ely Andersen, and brother-in-law Svend Erling Andersen, all of Denmark.
Ruth was born in Vordingborg and raised in Middelfart, Denmark. She worked as a Licensed Hairdresser until 1958 when she immigrated to Canada with Asbjorn where they were married in Toronto.
She settled with Asbjorn in Mitchell where they rebuilt and renovated a century old home while raising their family and creating a loving domestic home for us all. Ruth’s quiet inner strength was magnified by her graceful demeanor. She was the backbone and strength of our family.
Ruth’s faith held a large place in her life. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, and later was a member of First St. Johns Lutheran Church, Seebach’s Hill. She was active in many local bible study groups and was a member of Women’s Aglow International as well as the Stratford Christian Women’s group.
Ruth continued hairdressing part time and eventually retired when her children were in high school. She was a gifted sewer, knitter and enjoyed her friendships in a local knitting group.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
