PEARL MCKONE

Pearl Margaret McKone, 94, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 12, 2021 at her home in Mitchell.

Born in Ellice Township, Perth County on March 26, 1927, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Schauber) Lease. She married Ernest McKone on September 26, 1945. He predeceased her on February 27, 1982. Pearl worked hard during her life but always took the time to enjoy the company of family, friends and neighbours. Pearl is survived, and dearly missed, by her daughter and son-in-law Catherine and Larry Higenell of West Perth and grandchildren Emily Higenell (Josh Rodgers), Wiarton and Jason Higenell (Jasmyn Currie), West Perth. Also survived by Godchildren Marilyn Campbell and Ivan Leasa, and several nieces and nephews.

Pearl is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Albert (Hazel) Leasa, Andrew (Helen) Leasa, Helen Lease, Mabel (Reinhardt) Bauer, Ida (Elton) Faulhafer, Edna (Lloyd) Cook and Mildred (John) Thomson. Also predeceased by her McKone brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Arthur (Isabel) McKone, Viola (Robert) Taylor, Leonard (Ivy) McKone, Ray (Edith) McKone, Wilbert McKone, Bethel Wicke, Norma (Gord) Britton, Irma Pepper and Hugh (Dorothy) McKone.

To honour Pearl's wishes, in lieu of giving flowers to temporarily brighten one room, give something of yourself to brighten the world around you. Smile more, speak to a stranger, do a random act of kindness ... Let this be Pearl's legacy.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Fenn officiating. Interment in McTavish Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the visitation and funeral service must register online at LockhartFuneralHome.com or by phone at 519-348-8643.
