Obituary for Joseph Walsh

JOSEPH "JOE" WALSH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph John Walsh on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at the age of 70. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved wife Grace, children Michael (Julie) and Jennifer (Josh) and grandson Jacob (son of Michael and Julie).

Joe was always quick with a smile and joke - his booming voice and hearty laugh were two of his trademarks. He loved life and always cherished a visit with family and friends. Joe excelled at many tasks. His mechanical aptitude and passion for welding and fabricating were just some of these. Joe was also an excellent equipment operator. He had a natural ability to operate any piece of equipment masterfully. Joe's love of reading gave him the in-depth knowledge and understanding to offer meaningful insights and perspectives on many topics.

Joe married Grace Myerscough, the love of his life on September 17, 1983. Together they made their home at the family farm and raised their two children.

Dear brother of Mary Fisher, Anne Walsh, Patrick Walsh (Sharon), John Walsh (Patricia), Michael Walsh (MaryAnn), Helen Miron (Jim), Thomas Walsh (Gloria) and Jerome Walsh (Joyce); brother-in-law of Burt Jurisprudencia (husband of the late Kathleen), Rob Myerscough (Barb), and John Myerscough (Yvonne). Son-in-law of Ruth Gibbs. Lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Joseph and Marguerite Walsh, father-in-law Thomas Myerscough, sister Kathleen Jurisprudencia, brothers-in-law Bo Sibold, Al Goforth and Gary Fisher.

Joe remained committed to the Catholic faith his entire life. He exemplified this through many acts of selflessness which enabled his family to continue their pursuits. Joe also enjoyed partaking in many of the peaceful services offered at the Carmel of St. Joseph Parish in St. Agatha. Our family has been blessed over the years by the many prayers said by these wonderful Carmelite Nuns.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Monday, May 30, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family requests that those attending the visitation wear a mask if you are able and to register online at LockhartFuneralHome.com or by calling the funeral home at (519) 348-8643. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Patrick’s Church, Kinkora (Steeple Fund).

We pray that Joe finds eternal rest in the presence of God.

Please Note: Memorial donations made on our website for St. Patrick's Church, Kinkora (Steeple Fund) will be processed through The Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of the Diocese of London In Ontario.
