GORD DAVEY
Gord Davey, of Cromarty, Ontario in his 70th year passed peacefully after a valiant battle well fought for 8 months against cancer at Jessica's House Residential Hospice, Exeter on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.
He will be dearly missed by the love of his life Karen Davis, and by his beloved brother Wayne Davey (Marie), and their children Kenneth, and Wanda and their family. He will also be sorely missed by his aunts, nieces, cousins and many friends with special mention, his dear friend Jack, who all meant so much to Gord. He was predeceased by his parents Ken and Jean Davey, late of London. We offer heartfelt thanks for Gord’s exceptional care from oncologists Dr. Lazo- Langner, and Dr. Barghi, and the Doctors, Nurses, staff and volunteers at London Regional Cancer Program, Seaforth Community Hospital, and Jessica's House Hospice.
At heart, Gord was a son of the land. From his earliest memory, he loved helping his grandfather on the family farm in Cromarty and throughout his life, took every opportunity to help Andy and Scott of the MacLean family on that same homestead where he currently resided. Gord's love of driving and being ‘his own boss’ lead him into a career in truck driving, whether long distance or in later years, delivering propane to his customers. Gord was also an avid golfer with a wicked long drive. He had been a highly respected member of the Highland Country Club in London and at Mitchell Golf and Country Club where he won the Senior Men's Club Championship. Those who had the pleasure of knowing Gord would agree that he was a man of great principle and integrity. He was loyal and hard working, willing to share his extensive knowledge and skills, and with a heart of gold, quietly helped others in whatever way he could.
At Gord's request, a private family interment will take place. To offer friends and family an opportunity to celebrate his life and share your stories, you are invited to the Lockhart Reception Centre, 116 Montreal St., Mitchell on Saturday, July 15 from 1-3 p.m. Refreshments and light lunch will be provided and stories of remembrance are welcomed and will be shared at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Jessica's House Hospice or to London Regional Cancer Program, L.H.S.C. through LockhartFuneralHome.com or at the Celebration of Life.
