Florence passed away peacefully on January 31st 2023. Florence was born at the Mitchell Maternity Home on October 17, 1933 and was raised in Russeldale, Perth County, Ontario, the daughter of Ethelbert and Florence (Dow) Russell.

Florence was predeceased by her parents and by her seven older siblings: Clarence, Wesley (Agnes), Wilhelmina (Bob Campbell), Kathleen (Ken McLeod), Marion (Frank Miller), Lawrence and Roy (Audrey) . She is survived by sister-in-law Shirley Russell, and is dearly loved and missed by many nieces, nephews, their families and other relatives, primarily in Ontario, British Columbia, Australia and the U.S.

Florence was a lifelong teacher and learner. As a teacher she began her career in Motherwell and then taught many years in North York and Toronto. In the early 1960s Florence taught for two years on a Canadian Air Force base in Zweibrucken, Germany. Florence very much enjoyed travel and while in Germany she travelled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and as far east as India. Florence was a keen bridge player, a reader and until a few years ago an avid swimmer.

In accordance with her wishes there will be no funeral. However there be a gathering of friends and family in the spring to remember Florence. Florence was a long-time supporter of many charitable organizations. For those who wish, a donation to a charity of your choice in memory of Florence would be very much appreciated by the family.
