Obituary for Donald "Don" Hymers

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Donald Glen Hymers, 69, of Monkton, after a short illness in Listowel Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Don will be missed by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie (MacDougald), son Greg, daughter Jackie and grandson Breckin. Sisters Bonnie Cluett and Judy Dalcourt (Armel). Mother-in-law Noreen MacDougald, sisters-in-law Heather MacDougald (Ron) & Rosemary MacDougald and brother-in-law Ian MacDougald (Deb), he will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Glen (2000) and June (Schade) (1985), brother-in-law David (2015), and father-in-law Allan MacDougald (2008).

Don loved his family and travelled coast to coast with them camping. He enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and most of all horses. He worked in the trucking industry for many years and finished his working career on a horse farm near Monkton. He was a life long member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, Monkton, and a proud member of the North Perth Fire Department (Monkton Station) for 45 years.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10-10:45 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Spring interment in the Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Monkton. The family invites everyone to come dressed casually. Jeans are encouraged. Memorial donations to the Listowel Memorial Hospital or North Perth Fire Department (Monkton Station) would be appreciated.
