Christiane Louwagie, 83, of RR2, Gadshill passed away peacefully at Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Beloved wife of the late George Louwagie (2020). Dear mother of Pat Louwagie (Kim), Rosemary Rudy (Randy) and Ann Marinelli (John). Loving grandmother of Brad, Andy (Katie), Kristen (Matt), Janis (Josh); Eric (Holly), Ian, Jack, Leah, Sam, Adam; Jill (Clayton) and Luke. Cherished great grandmother of Alivia, Laura, Makayla, Eva and Audrey. Dear sister of Leona Vandewalle (Gerard), Cecile Louwagie, Monique Louwagie and Beatrice Louwagie (Leon). Dear sister-in-law of Joe Louwagie, Gabrielle Capoen, Rita Capoen and Andre Lebleu. She will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Leon and Marguerite Opsomer, sisters-in-law Maria, Ida, Simonne, Godelieve, Germaine, Jeanne and Alice, brothers-in-law Hector, Willy, Eddy, Fernand, Camiel, Marcel and Paul, father-in-law and mother-in-law Michel and Madeline Louwagie.

Christiane and George were married and emigrated from Belgium in 1963, farming and raising their family in the Rostock area. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren brought great joy to her life.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 6 - 8:30 p.m. The family requests that those attending the visitation register online at LockhartFuneralHome.com or by calling the funeral home at (519) 348-8643. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Kinkora on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ronnie Tagnines- Celebrant (registration not required). Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Kinkora. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Stratford Perth Hospice Foundation would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Stratford General Hospital for their compassionate care. We would also like to thank the staff and volunteers at Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice for their love and care in Mom's final journey. There are truly angels on earth.
