Obituary for Alice Gardiner (Walker)
GARDINER, ALICE Irene, (née Walker) died after a long illness of undiagnosed pancreatic cancer just a few days shy of her 79th birthday. She will be forever missed by all of us who love her and were loved by her including her husband Larry of 56 years, her daughters Lisa, Leanne and Jo (LariJo), her favourite son-in-law Jai Sachdev, and her grandchildren Vikram, Otto and Sonia of Doylestown, Pennsylvania and Lucius and Ember of Huntsville. She was predeceased by her son Steven in 1993. She was a cherished aunt of the Currie, McGhee, Walker, Hulley, Bearss and Parnell families and she always cultivated many great friendships throughout her years. She was predeceased by her parents Otto and Josephine Walker, her brother Alec Walker, her sisters Helen Currie and Margaret Hulley, her nephew Danny Hulley, her niece Sandy Robinson, her brothers-in-law Hugh Currie, Bob Hulley, Jack McGhee, Ken Bearss and her parents in-law Isabel Gardiner and Bob Gardiner. Alice will be missed by her sister Caroline McGhee and her brother Ken Walker as well as her in-laws, Shirley Bearss, Barb and Jim Parnell, Ron Gardiner, Brenda Gardiner, and Rob and Pat Gardiner.
During her time, she farmed outside of Cromarty with her husband. She was a steadfast volunteer at the Cromarty Presbyterian Church in various roles. She was a gifted quilter, competitive card player and social gambler. She also loved travelling across Canada and around the world with Larry.
As a woman of Faith, our mother believed in the power of gratitude and she practised it daily. To that end, we would like to thank her dear friends, neighbours, and extended family who have nurtured our minds, bodies and souls at this time with meals, visits, words of encouragement and prayers.
To honour and celebrate Alice’s life and her contribution to our lives, her family is holding a visitation at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Sunday, August 21, 2022 from 1:00 - 4:30 p.m. Those attending the visitation are asked to schedule a time at LockhartFuneralHome.com or by calling the funeral home at 519-348-8643. Alice's funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. (scheduling not required if attending funeral service).
