STEPHEN HAGARTY

Stephen Michael Hagarty, 62, of Ridgetown passed away at Victoria Hospital, London on Thursday, June 21, 2018.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth Hagarty. Dear father of James Hagarty (Síne), Robert Smith (Melody) and Kerri-Lynn McCurdy. Loving grandfather of Braenna, Hadleigh and Cooper McCurdy. Dear brother of Betty Furfaro (Tony), Eileen Dutton (Michael), James Hagarty (Barbara), Jeanette Hagarty (Beno) and Anne Kelly (Mike). Cherished son-in-law of Edith Fletcher. Dear brother-in-law of Bill Fletcher, Jim Fletcher (Patty), Judy Nutt and Margie McCall (John). Also surviving are his nieces, nephews and their families.

Predeceased by his parents James and Cecilia Hagarty, father-in-law Archie Fletcher, son-in-law Shawn McCurdy, brother Bill Hagarty, brother-in-law David Nutt and nephew Paul Furfaro.

Steve grew up on a farm near Mitchell where he attended Mitchell District High School. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario with his Honours Bachelor Degree in English History pursuing his teaching career. He was head of the Communications Department at Ridgetown College for many years and received several awards for videography. For the past several years, he enjoyed being a teacher and encouraging young minds at Ridgetown High School.

Friends will be received at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 29 Park Lane, Mitchell on Saturday July 7, 2018 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. followed by Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ben Raze - celebrant. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre, 116 Montreal St., Mitchell. Memorial donations to the Cancer Society (Leukemia Research) or London Health Sciences Centre Foundation would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com.
