WILLIAM EDWARD CORNISH

Quietly at home with family by his side on Saturday, April 21st at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2010 and will be forever missed by his three daughters and their husbands, Kathy and John Jacob, Patricia and Wayne Gagne and Janet and Jerry Smith. He was also the much loved and respected Grandpa of Emily Jacob, Sarah Jacob, Rob Jacob (Rachel Voros), Nicole Gagne, Suzanne Simms (Joe), Craig Smith and Philip Smith (Rachel Elsbury) and the adored Great-Grandpa of Sophia, Madeline, Jerzey, Bryson, Alyssa and Billy.

He was predeceased by his parents Walter and Grace Cornish, his sister Margaret and her husband Norman Kemp, and by his in-laws Evelyn and Ormond Pridham, Dalton Kemp, Gordon and Jean Kemp, Earl Kemp, Fay and Ernie Sager, Carl Vock, Cecil Cowell, George Kemp and Harold Kemp.

He is also survived by his in-laws Phyllis Kemp, Vera Kemp, Betty Cowell, Anne Kemp, Margaret Kemp and Shirley and Laverne Zimmer. Uncle Bill will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

Dad was a lifelong resident of Mitchell and had a remarkable memory of the town's history. He was a lifelong and faithful member of Knox Presbyterian Church and filled many positions there over the years. He proudly served in the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII and supported the Legion in various capacities throughout his life. He enjoyed being a member of the Mitchell Legion Band for 42 years and shared many good times with his fellow musicians. Dad was always active, curling for many years at the Mitchell Curling Club and spending many hours on the Mitchell Golf Course with his friends and family members. He was employed at the Ministry of Transportation for 34 years and enjoyed traveling with Margaret following their retirement in1983.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Adams officiating. A reception will follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre. Interment in Knox Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial donations to Cystic Fibrosis or charity of one's choice would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com. Members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 128, Mitchell will hold a service at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m.
