WALTER LLOYD MCFADDEN

Walter Lloyd McFadden, 91, of Mitchell, born August 22, 1927, passed away peacefully at Stratford General Hospital on Saturday, September 1, 2018.

Beloved husband of Wilma (Eickmeyer) McFadden for 60 years. Dear father of Karen Huisman (John), Lorrie McFadden, Pauline McFadden (Doug Ford) and Diane Danen (Ted). Loving grandfather of Michelle Huisman (James Prescott), Monique Truman (Terry), Nick Daunt (Danielle Ondrejicka), Liam Daunt (Kelly MacDonald), Luke Danen, Mackenzie Lapointe (Travis), Delaney Danen (friend Tim Wettlaufer) and Matthew Danen. Cherished great-grandfather of Mitchell and Ashley Truman, Evan and Leona Prescott, and Jameson Lapointe. Dear brother-in-law of Maxine McFadden, Doreen McFadden and Freda Eickmeyer. He will be remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his wife Shirley (Wickie) McFadden and infant sons Walter and Thomas, parents Roy and Caroline (Steinacker) McFadden, brothers Donald and Eric McFadden, sister Alida in infancy, parents-in-law David and Melinda (Bennewies) Eickmeyer, and sister-in-law Gladys Leasa (Bill).

Wally worked for the Canadian National Railway in Stratford and London before moving to Logan Township to farm, as well as with working off-farm at Cooper Standard and Ellen’s Trucking in Mitchell. He enjoyed driving through the countryside delivering the Stratford Beacon Herald prior to retirement in Mitchell.

Family and friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St.,
Mitchell on Monday, September 3, 2018 from 1-1:45 pm, followed by the funeral
service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gery Luck officiating, assisted by Pastor
Ted Radke. Reception to follow at the Lockhart Reception Centre.

Memorial donations may be made to Stratford General Hospital or Ritz Lutheran Villa at LockhartFuneralHome.com.

To honour Wally and his love of racing pigeons, a time of fellowship followed by a pigeon release will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018.
