CORNELIUS A.G.M. (KEES) MONDEN

Kees Monden, 72, of Mitchell passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, June 2, 2013. Born in Ginneken, N.B., The Netherlands on September 7, 1940.

Beloved husband of Joanne (Schalk) Monden. Dear father of Ron Monden (Bonnie) of Woodstock, Edward Monden (Pauline) of Bornholm, Karen Cameron (Jim), Kenneth Monden (Heather) of Mitchell and Elisabeth Poppe (Brian) of Seaforth. Loving grandfather of Cole, Leah and Kaylie Monden, Katie and Greg Monden, Sami Cameron, Jake and Wade Monden, Luke and Tyson Poppe. Dear brother of Jos Monden (Paula) of The Netherlands, Corrie Kerstens of Mitchell, Adrie Linders and Relia De Rooy (Kees) of The Netherlands. Dear brother-in-law of Joanne Monden of Ridgetown and Cathy Monden of Strathroy. Lovingly remembered by the Schalk family in The Netherlands and his many nieces and nephews. Also remembered by Kim Monden.

Predeceased by his parents Johannes and Elisabeth (Christianen) Monden, brothers Chris and John Monden, brothers-in-law Jos Kerstens and Simon Linders and nephew Shawn Monden.

Kees immigrated to Canada in 1960 farming in Dorchester and then in Logan Township from 1972 until his retirement to Mitchell in 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 9252 for 21 years.

Friends will be received at the Lockhart Funeral Home, 109 Montreal St., Mitchell on Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Mitchell on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Nicholson - celebrant. Interment in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or Right to Life would be appreciated. Knights of Columbus prayers will be offered at the funeral home on Thursday at 9:15 p.m. Online condolences at www.LockhartFuneralHome.com.
